New Logan Square cafe Sipping Turtle Cafe opens its doors

AVONDALE — A new cafe serving everything from locally roasted Stivers Coffee and croissant sandwiches to Asian buns and bubble tea is coming to the corner of Milwaukee and Central Park avenues.

Husband-and-wife team Peter Shen and Sarinporn Intongkam are behind the new spot at 2959 N. Milwaukee Ave., called Sipping Turtle Cafe.

Shen, an Albany Park native, and Intongkam, who recently moved to Chicago by way of Thailand, set out to open a business together after having worked in the IT and engineering fields for several years.

The couple, who live down the street from Sipping Turtle, landed on a cafe because they both love the cafe experience.

A new cafe has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Located at 2959 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Logan Square, the newcomer is called Sipping Turtle Cafe.

Sipping Turtle Cafe serves up sandwiches, salads, coffee, tea and more. On the menu, look for the scrambled egg and corned beef sandwich with sourdough bread, butter, Parmesan cheese and green onion.

Sipping Turtle Cafe has gotten an enthusiastic response thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of seven reviews on Yelp.

Polly S., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Feb. 27, wrote, “The brown sugar milk tea I had was tasty and served in a mason jar with silver eco-friendly reusable straw. I also had the mango avocado salad, which was dressed perfectly and was extra yummy with unexpected fresh mint and sunflower seeds.”

Yelper Mike K. added, “Pretty cool space, huge windows for sidewalk people watching.”

Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Sipping Turtle Cafe is open from 7 a.m.–9 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m.–9 p.m. on weekends.
