Avondale Mutual Aid and Sipping Turtle Cafe has partnered up for a Holiday Gift Drive campaign. The gift drive is currently ongoing and is accepting donations until December 19th. Acceptable gifts include but not limited to toys, clothes and gift cards. Gift cards to grocery stores or restaurants are encouraged. New toys are preferred unless it’s in excellent shape. Clothes should be new.

The campaign drive was started by Avondale Mutual Aid, the organization administered by Laura Lee of Avondale to help its neighbors in times of need, especially now with many people struggling caused by the current covid pandemic. Besides gift drives, Avondale Mutual Aid helps neighbors whenever a dire situation arises using social media and crowdsourcing.

Sipping Turtle Cafe is helping the gift drive by promoting the effort through its social media channels as well as the drop off point for the gifts. So far the campaign has received over 100 items of toys, clothes and other donations. There is no maximum limit to donations, Sipping Turtle Cafe has enough space as of today to accept many more donations and other vendors have offered more space when the situation is happily warranted.
